THE METRO CATS: Life in the core of The Big Apple.

The Metro Cats by Joanne de Simone, is a colorful, sensative, yet humanly touching tale of a colony of cats frolicking out and about the iner city alleys of the Upper West Side-in the heart of New York City Streets.

What makes this wonderfully written "soap opera" of mundane daily life struggles so compelling is the "human like" characters each cat and even "groupings" of cats possess. Not only has the author kept "consistant" the integral behavior of cats, but through them, was able to address key elements of the human condition which continue to plague our society, such as; gang life, poverty, sexual misconduct and its consequences, abandonment, and antisocial behavior.

Through the episodic life of these cats, we humans can buffer our own short comings. The Metro Cats is not only funny, descriptive, and an easy read, it imparts wisdom all children can emulate.

The Emilio Prud'homme Traveling Theatre, Inc. will be adapting the story into a children's stageplay, under the direction of Emory Porter.

The venue will be at RIVERBANK STATE PARK at 145th street, Harlem, New York.  We hope to open by the end of April or the end of May 2010.

We will keep you posted with further details or you can contact the director, Emory Porter by e-mail at emory_porter@yahoo.com (that's emory -underscore-porter@yahoo.com)
